Happy Accident

Remember this photo from Saturday?

Michael snapped this action shot as G tripped and fell into the water at Halibut State Park.  An impromptu swim was not what we had in mind for her (I had no change of clothes, no towel and she was wearing sneakers instead of her crocs).  Our morning started with a walk along the trail to the ocean.

We snapped a few pictures at the quarry but G was only interested in heading toward the ocean.

With all the rain over the last few days, the rocks had tons of puddles/small pools of collected rain water - the goal was to keep G from stepping in and getting her shoes all wet.  Before even a minute went by, that plan went out the window as she settled comfortably into a small puddle.

New goal: keep G from jumping into a puddle.  It looked like we were going to be pretty successful at that task.  Michael and I walked with her from one pool to another checking them out for sea life (we spotted a crab and a frog...which isn't really sea life but G still liked it).

We walked further down toward the ocean and checked out the birds and boats in the ocean.

Then as we walked back from the ocean...it happened - the splash.  One small slip on the rock and G fell right into a nice deep puddle.

Se was soaking wet and completely un-phased.

At that point, we figured there was really no point in keeping her out of the pools, so, much to her delight, we let her hop right in and explore.

Thankfully we had some sunblock with us, so we stripped her down to her skivvies and let her splash her heart out.

As if the morning could not get more exciting, Michael spotted a little something down by the ocean so we headed back down to check it out!

G kept saying "Hi, seal!"  And the seal would look up at us, which thrilled her.

So while the activities of the morning were exactly what we were avoiding going into our adventure, it ended up being a super fun morning.  Lesson learned: we now each have a bag with a spare change of clothes and a blanket (to double as a towel if need be) in our cars.
